Consumption of Food Guide

How you eat is as important as what you eat. Explore clinical guidelines on meal schedules, seasonal adaptations, hydration principles, and chewing methodologies.

Diurnal Schedule

Align meals with circadian rhythm. Eat a light breakfast, your heaviest meal at solar noon when digestion is peak, and a light dinner before 7:00 PM.

Solar Noon: 11:30 AM - 1:30 PM
Dinner gap: 3 hours before bed
Fast period: 12-14 hours overnight

Seasonal Adaptation (Ritucharya)

Adapt food choices to seasonal variations. Ayurveda recommends heating, warm foods during winter (Vasanta) and cooling, hydrating foods during hot summers (Grishma).

Winter: Root vegetables, warm soups
Summer: Fruits, leafy greens, coconut water
Monsoon: Lightly cooked foods, ginger

Circum-Prandial Hydration

Avoid drinking excessive water during or immediately after meals as it dilutes gastric juices. Drink fluids 30-45 minutes before or after eating.

Warm water boosts digestion
Sip slowly, do not gulp
Avoid ice-cold water entirely

Best Habits

Healthy Eating Guidelines

Chew Thoroughly

Chew your food 32 times. Digestion begins in the mouth with salivary amylase breaking down complex carbs.

Mindful Eating

Eat without digital distractions. Avoid screens, reading, or stressful discussions during meals to support parasympathetic activity.

Avoid Overeating

Leave 1/3 of your stomach empty. Stop eating when you feel 80% full to prevent metabolic sluggishness.
